Northwich in pole position to see British touring car star

Northwich is in pole position to see one of the country's hottest young motor racing prospects, when HiQ's latest fast and furious fans' forum heads to the town.

HiQ Northwich, based in Manchester Road, will host an evening of thrills and spills from 6.30pm to 8.30pm on Thursday July 24, which will give people the chance to meet Tom Onslow-Cole, one of the brightest stars in the BTCC.

The motorsport forum is specially arranged by HiQ, official sponsors of the British Touring Car Championship, ahead of the next round of racing at Oulton Park on Sunday July 27.

It is the first time HiQ has ever brought the BTCC to Northwich and it is hoped that hundreds of spectators will make the most of the free event.

Onslow-Cole is challenging at the top of the drivers' standings after a string of impressive results in recent races, including two wins at Thruxton recently. He has also helped to cement his VX Racing team at the top of the standings.

Admission to the exclusive event is completely free, and complimentary food and drink will also be provided throughout the evening.

A number of free tickets for Oulton Park will also be up for grabs, as HiQ prepares for a dazzling evening of fun.

HiQ's BTCC spokesman James Bailey said: "We are really going all out for our most successful event yet and we want as many people to attend as possible.

"Our motorsport forums give people the chance to learn about HiQ, the BTCC and a chance to speak to some of the star drivers. We are delighted to be staging one at our Northwich store and we can't wait to kick-off the event."

Darlington in Motorsport Mayhem!

A trio of British Touring Car Championship stars will bring Darlington to a standstill when they make a pit stop in the town for a special motorsport forum event.

HiQ Darlington, based in Meynell Road, will host the evening of thrills and spills from 6.30pm to 8.30pm, which will give people the chance to meet their racing heroes.

The motorsport forum is specially arranged by HiQ, official sponsors of the British Touring Car Championship, ahead of the next round of racing at Croft on Sunday June 1.

Drivers Harry Vaulkhard, Alan Taylor and Martyn Bell will all be on hand to sign autographs, answer questions and pose for pictures and admission is completely free.

Free food and drink will be provided and 10 pairs of tickets will be given away during the evening.

Harry Vaulkard (Newcastle), Alan Taylor (Whitley Bay) and their team, Boldon-based Robertshaw Racing are all from the region and on display will be their Chevrolet Lacetti and Honda Integra race cars.

For Barrow-upon-Humber driver Bell, Croft is also very much a home track and he will join Vaulkhard and Taylor from 6.30pm-8.30pm to sign autographs and answer questions for enthusiasts.

For the Robertshaw team, this will be its first race meeting in front of its home crowd as a BTCC entrant. It will assuredly be hoping for a strong performance at Croft after Vaulkhard scored his first BTCC point at Thruxton last Sunday.

Bell will be hoping Croft is where he can open his 2008 account as well, the Vauxhall Astra Sport Hatch he drives for the Arkas Racing/Sunshine.co.uk team having always performed strongly at the North Yorkshire circuit.

HiQ's BTCC spokesman Neil Burrows said: "We are really going all out for our most successful event yet and we want as many people to attend as possible.

HiQ confirms BTCC fans night

50 years BTCC

Reigning champion squad VX Racing and driver Tom Onslow-Cole will greet the public at HiQ's Grays store in Essex this Thursday night (27 March) for a fun evening of motor sport ahead of the weekend's opening HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship rounds at the nearby Brands Hatch circuit.

VXR will have on display one of its BTCC title-winning Vauxhall Vectra VXRs. Onslow-Cole will sign autographs and he and his team will also take part in a question and answer session.

As well, ten pairs of Brands Hatch BTCC tickets will be up for grabs and touring car race game simulators provided for fans to play on. HiQ will even lay on a barbeque for those attending*.

The event will run from 6.30pm-8.30pm. HiQ's store is on London Road, Grays with parking available in the nearby Morrisons supermarket car park.

HiQ's Neil Burrows said: "Our HiQ centre will have a real carnival atmosphere, featuring some electric sights and sounds. We want as many people as possible to come and soak it up."

HiQ's title sponsorship of the BTCC - agreed for the next three years - will play a key role in promoting the company's ambitious programme of development which is set to change the way 'fast fit' is delivered in the UK. HiQ is a sister company to Dunlop, which has backed the BTCC since 2005 as title sponsor. Dunlop is continuing as official tyre supplier to the BTCC.

Burrows added: "HiQ has begun an ambitious programme, not only to simply change the look of its centres, but make a fundamental change to the way fast fit is delivered in the UK. Partnering with the country's biggest motor sport championship will help us communicate with our target audience and promote the scale of the investment in the HiQ network."
