We do…

Checking your tyres (about 5 mins).

If you can, do this once a week, fortnightly as a minimum. Look out for obvious damage such as splits or cracks. Check that tyres are wearing evenly. If they're showing signs of wear along just one side this could mean they're misaligned. (This is something you'll have to get checked by a professional. Pop into any of centres and we'll be able to help).

Tread depth legally has to be a minimum of 1.6mm. To check this, use a depth-gauge. These are relatively inexpensive and available from us.

Check pressures fortnightly with a pressure gauge. The gauges on the airlines in petrol stations aren't always as accurate as they should be. (Excessive wear at the centre of the tread usually means your tyre is over-inflated). Follow the guidelines in your car's handbook. Tyres should be cold when you check them as the pressure naturally increases as they warm up so can get a misleading reading.

Oh, and don't forget to check the spare!
