MOTs
MOT. We make it as easy as ABC
The MOT process is governed by strict rules set down by the Ministry Of Transport. Which means, the things that we check are exactly the same as the things other approved MOT centres will check too.
Where we try to make a difference is in making the whole process as simple, affordable and hassle free as possible. Our HiQ fitters are fully qualified to approve your vehicle as legal and safe. You can choose to watch, in most cases, (from the comfort, and cleanliness of our viewing areas) helping you pick up some useful info and handy hints about your car. Our technicians will also try to point out things that could need looking at soon, even if they aren't part of the test or reason to fail you. Well, it would be daft for you to have to come back in to see us with a problem we could've spotted and potentially solved while you're already here, wouldn't it?
- Check out the things we check. You can't fail to be reassured.
Having a current MOT certificate is a legal requirement in the UK and without it you won't be able to renew your road tax. For us to do your test, you must bring your V5C Vehicle Registration Document and current MOT certificate in with you when you bring in your car. Remember, the MOT is not a substitute for a service. It's just designed to tell everyone that you car meets basic safety criteria on that given day. It's got nothing to do with maintaining performance or preserving value.
As part of the test we check (big breath)…
- your brakes
- your steering
- your suspension
- your windscreen and mirrors
- your electrics (lights, indicators, wipers etc)
- your tyres
- your exhaust (including your emissions)
- and last but by no means least, your seat belts
Phew.
What is it?
A mandatory check of your vehicle to ensure that it is road worthy. It is a legal requirement that all vehicles (3 years and over) have this test carried out by VOSA appointed testing stations on an annual basis
When should I have it?
Your first test will be three years after the date of the first registration of your vehicle. If your vehicle passes this test then the MOT will last 12 months from the date of the test and will have to renewed before this period expires.
