Steering. You can always turn to us for an honest opinion
At HiQ, we're a great believer in 'what goes around comes around'. So we reckon that, if we're straight and honest with you, you're more likely to tell others how great we are and come back again yourself. So if you've a problem with your steering, we'll tell you. Similarly, if you don't have a problem, we'll tell you that too - rather than trying to pull the wool over your eyes and get you to pay for work your car doesn't actually need.
It might be that your steering is hunky-dory and something else is causing your car to veer or respond differently when you turn the wheel. If it is the steering playing up, rest assured all our HiQ Centres have all know-how to sort it out. (As they do if the problem turns out to be something completely different, too).
Keeping you going in the right direction is important to us. Even if it means you driving straight past us and not calling in
As you can imagine, different cars have different steering set ups. Whatever features make up your steering system, you can be sure they'll get the best possible attention from us. Even if that means no attention at all.
Today, the most common system is the 'rack and pinion' one. It's actually a pretty simple mechanism - not that dissimilar to how you might have made steering mechanism for your own toy cars made with Meccano or Lego when you were younger. But obviously a lot better and more robust.
In addition to this basic mechanical set up, secondary techno features can be included too - the most popular being Power Steering, Speed Adjustable Steering and Four-wheel Steering.
To a greater or lesser degree (or in combination) these allow you to turn your road wheels with less effort, more control or increased ability - often to dramatically reduce your car's turning circle.
And, by the way, we're experts in all of them.
