Team RAC speedster Stephen Jelley has scooped his second HiQ Champagne Moment of the season, thanks to hundreds more votes from his ever growing fan club. Unsuprisingly, Jelley won the award for his stunning display at Rockingham, when he secured his first two BTCC wins of his career.
The Leicester star has already received the champagne moment award once before when he grabbed the bubbly for his three podium finishes at Snetterton back in August. Jelley polled a massive 65 per cent of fans' votes with Tom Chilton second with 21 per cent of votes, who captured the imagination with a maiden podium finish for Team Aon. Mat Jackson was third with seven per cent of votes. Stephen said: "To win the HiQ Champagne Moment once is nice, but twice is especially pleasing, and gives me something to remember my performance by. "It was a magical feeling winning the first BTCC races of my career and it is lovely to see that fans have thought of me once again." BTCC fan Matthew Wabe, of Thetford, was picked at random to win a bottle of champagne and he will now win a pair of tickets to the final round of BTCC action at Brands Hatch, where he will present Stephen with his prize. Matthew said: "My vote went to Stephen because he was majestic in winning two of the three races at Rockingham. He's an exceptional talent and I can't wait to present him with his prize." Stephen's award will mark the end of HiQ's Champagne Moment awards for 2009 which have again been extremely popular with spectators of Britain's premier motor racing series. HiQ's BTCC marketing manager Geraldine McGovern said: "Our champagne moment awards have been a massive success and we couldn't be happier with their popularity. "We'd like to thank everyone who entered over the course of the season, and hope each winner had a day to remember."
