HiQ franchisee Justin Roberton has become one of the first in the United Kingdom to invest in a new training facility for his staff, in an attempt to raise standards even higher across his four centres.

Justin, who operates four HiQ centres in the area, has converted an open storage area above HiQ Truro to create a training suite, which will be used to develop technicians' skills in technical competencies and customer facing skills.

The new £10,000 suite offers technicians over 40 bespoke training courses from business and personal development to NVQ qualifications.

The facility will operate under the HiQ fast fit network's training programme called the HiQ Academy.

He said that the training suite would reinforce his four centres as fast fit garages that motorists can be sure of, while adding to the impressive work already being undertaken.

Four of his technicians have already been awarded Automotive Technician Accreditation (ATA) status, becoming four of the first in Cornwall to gain the prestigious qualification.

Jeremy Glover (HiQ Bodmin), Chris Trudgian (HiQ Helston), Steven Harris (HiQ St Austell) and Mark Richard (HiQ Truro) are now qualified to offer the best possible customer service and verifies the work carried out through the Academy.

Justin told HiQ online: "This is a great achievement for the lads and one that can boost our customer service offering to motorists in the area."

Regulated by the Institute of Motor Industry, ATA is regarded as the most prestigious qualification in the fast fit industry which requires a theory based module and then practical assessments specific to their field of expertise.

Their names are now listed on the ATA website which allows consumers to search for their nearest garage with registered technicians, giving peace of mind that work will be carried out correctly.

"I am a strong advocate of training," Justin continues. "As a business, it is important to reassure customers that we have a team with relevant training, who can do the job competently and professionally.

"This investment will go a long way in training technicians of the future and I'm glad to have brought a training facility to Cornwall."

HiQ's retail director Peter Tye said: "At HiQ, we are passionate about training and delivering the best customer service in the fast fit industry.

"Through HiQ Academy, we are proud to support our technicians and provide them with personal development programmes to maximise their potential and meet the needs of our franchisees.

"Opening a training facility for technicians in the area is fantastic news and I hope they take advantage of the programmes on offer."
