A Workington entrepreneur has received a national business award for a number of successes with the HiQ fast fit network.
His company, P & R Autocentres, boasted impressive profit and turnover figures for the year and will also open a fourth HiQ centre in 2011, in a show of strength for his business.
He has invested heavily in new corporate identity at his three centres in 2010 - including a £75,000 refurbishment of his Lancaster outlet.
And despite difficult economic trading conditions and the challenges posed by the Workington floods of 2009, he said that any obstacle could be tackled with some good old fashioned hard work.
"I am so delighted to have won this award. I'd have to put it all down to the excellent team I have around me, and a lot of hard work!
"I don't think there is a secret as such. It is just about giving the best customer service that you possibly can. This then builds a reputation around the area and attracts people to come back here."
HiQ retail director Peter Tye said: "Peter and his P & R business deserves so much credit for all the hard work they have put in.
"The overall winner of this award was determined by the HiQ Leadership Team using an analysis of actual performance, including turnover figures. Peter was the outstanding candidate and we'd like to congratulate him for a great year."
The awards initiative was introduced to support and build the HiQ franchise programme to recognise those who are leading the way within the HiQ network.
As well as receiving award plaques to be displayed in the businesses customer service area, Peter received a congratulatory cheque to invest further in the business.
