Small checks. Big impact. HiQ helping keep families safe on the road.

Friday, 9th October 2026

Sometimes, the simplest safety checks reveal the biggest risks. And last week, our HiQ Tyres & Autocare team helped demonstrate exactly why taking a few minutes to check can make all the difference.

As part of Tyre Safety Month, HiQ joined forces with South Gloucestershire Council, TyreSafe and Child Seat Safety for a community road safety event, bringing together expertise in tyre safety and child car seat fitting to help local families travel more safely.

The results were eye-opening

Of the 45 vehicles inspected, 10 were found to have tyre issues, ranging from worn tyres and advisory-level wear to cracked and perished rubber. One vehicle needed all four tyres replacing.

That's more than one in five vehicles checked with an issue requiring attention or monitoring.

Alongside the tyre inspections, child car seat specialists identified fitting and safety concerns, reinforcing an important message: keeping families safe on the road is about more than the vehicle itself. It's about protecting everyone travelling in it.

Local expertise making a real difference

A special thank you to Richard Evans, Mobile Operations Manager, and Jack Grummett, Mobile Technician, who generously gave their time, bringing their expertise, enthusiasm and commitment to road safety directly to the local community.

Their support is a great example of our Goodyear Community Champions initiative in action, using our knowledge and experience to make a real difference where it matters most.

Craig Sprigmore, Retail Director of HiQ Tyres & Autocare, also joined the event, speaking with What Car? about the importance of preventative maintenance and the role local automotive experts play in keeping motorists safe.

Turning awareness into action

This year's TyreSafe campaign, Act Before You REact, encourages motorists to make three simple ACT checks: Air pressure, Condition and Tread.

The event demonstrated why those checks matter and how collaboration between local authorities, road safety organisations and automotive experts can turn awareness into action.

Feedback from everyone involved was overwhelmingly positive, with a shared ambition to repeat the initiative with other local authorities and reach even more communities.

For HiQ Tyres & Autocare, this is about more than checking tyres. It's about putting our expertise to work where it matters most.

A huge thank you to everyone involved for making the day such a success.
