Bulbs & Wipers

Our technicians can fit new bulbs and wipers while you wait.

Windscreen wipers

Over time a squeaky windscreen wiper can become a little frustrating, especially if you're caught in a heavy downpour. Our HiQ technicians can replace wipers for you while you wait to ensure you are back on the road with minimal fuss.

Bulbs

We recommend checking your lights regularly to make sure they're working as they should as driving with a damaged or faulty bulb can be an offense, so it's important to get it changed as quickly as possible.

We can replace and fit bulbs for you in our HiQ centres while you wait.

Halogen Bulbs

Halogen bulbs are a more traditional bulb type still widely used containing a tungsten filament that heats to create light. These bulbs types tend to be less expensive however they are not as bright or as long-lasting as Xenon or LED bulbs.

Xenon Bulbs

Xenon bulbs contain xenon gas and provide a bright white light which makes them a great choice for vehicle headlights. They are typically more expensive than traditional Halogen bulbs however they tend to last much longer.

LED Bulbs

LED bulbs are becoming much more popular with vehicle manufacturers as they offer a great balance of brightness, reliability and longevity. They are most commonly used for interior lights however they are increasingly used as headlights particularly with new vehicles.

If your car comes with LED lights as standard, then these can be replaced. If your car has halogen bulbs as standard, then it is not advised to replace them with LEDs.

LED lights are widely considered to be the most efficient and long lasting of all headlight bulbs. However, LED bulbs are typically more expensive.

Traditional halogen bulbs typically last between 500-1000hrs however Xenon and LED bulbs can be expected to last considerably longer.

There is no legal requirement to change both bulbs however replacing in pairs gives extra peace of mind to drivers, avoiding potential failures.

In the UK all vehicles (with the exceptions of motorcycles) is required to have two working headlights. It is a criminal offence to drive with defective headlights and drivers breaking these rules can expect to be pulled over by the authorities.
