It's snow joke - motorists offered help!

HiQ is promising to provide free tyre safety checks throughout January in a bid to ease the motoring misery caused by the New Year freeze.
[list] [*][b]Tyres:[/b] checking and adjusting pressures on all five tyres, including tread depth and wheel alignment [*][b]Battery:[/b] check battery and clean and grease terminals. [*][b]Windscreen:[/b] check condition of front and rear wiper blades, washers and headlamps. [*][b]Lights and horns:[/b] check condition of side, tail, main, dip, stop, reverse, indicators, hazard, fog and spot lights [*][b]Engine:[/b] check engine oil and filter, run engine, check for leaks [*][b]Exhaust:[/b] Inspect and report on the condition of the exhaust [*][b]Fan belt:[/b] inspect fan belt and adjust if necessary [*][b]Coolant hose:[/b] Inspect hoses and fasteners, radiators and connections, antifreeze and check for leaks [/list]
HiQ's marketing manager Geraldine McGovern urged motorists to drive with more caution in the bad weather as braking and steering manoeuvres will not be as responsive as normal.She said: "Braking on snow and ice may take ten times longer.
