Rob Collard makes HiQ history with second Champagne Moment!

Airwaves BMW speedster Rob Collard has created history by winning HiQ's champagne moment for the second time in his career.

The high flying Hampshireman has won HiQ's popular award for Oulton Park, after producing one of the best drives in recent BTCC history in race three when coming from the back of the grid to finish fourth.

It is his second champagne moment victory, after winning the accolade in 2008 for a second placed finish at Knockhill, making him the only driver to scoop the bubbly twice.

He said: "I'm absolutely delighted to win this award again and become the first BTCC driver to receive it twice. It's a huge honour to know that people appreciate the effort you put in on the track, so I have to thank everyone who took the time to vote for me.

"I had a great run in the third race at Oulton and I guess spectators must have enjoyed it as much as I did in the driving seat. I'm really enjoying my racing this season and this award is another big confidence booster as we head to Croft looking for more top results."

Rob polled a whopping 64 per cent of the votes, beating Colin Turkington (14 per cent) and Paul O' Neill (10 per cent).

Neil Sheffield was picked at random to win a bottle of champagne and he will now win a pair of tickets to a future BTCC race of his choice.

He said: "I am delighted that Rob won and that I was picked as HiQ's winner. From 20th on the grid, to finish 4th in the last race as a phenomenal effort. He drove like a bat out of hell."

All spectators are invited to log onto HiQ's official website, www.hiqonline.co.uk to vote for their star performer from the next round of racing, at Croft on June 14.

The man that receives the most plaudits from the round of racing will be crowned with HiQ's Champagne Moment award and presented with a magnum of bubbly before the next race.

One lucky fan who has logged his or her details onto the website will be picked at random to present the prize to the driver and complimentary race tickets will also be provided, along with a grid walk of the track before one of the races.

HiQ's BTCC marketing manager Geraldine McGovern said: "We are delighted for Rob and his team. He is certainly a worthy winner, and we all thought he stood a great chance for that stunning drive in race three."
