Autosport International Round Up of BTCC News

What a fantastic weekend at the Autosport International show. There were a huge display of cars as well as stalls for all your motoring needs. Stars travelled from all over the globe to attend the show from Formula 1, World Rally Championship, British Touring Car Championship and many more racing events. The live action arena put the pedal to the metal with Sky Sports F1 commentator David Croft commentating on a fantastic array of motor racing from Hot Rod Racing, Drifting to Rallycross legend Petter Solberg who entered the arena in a car on two wheels! A monster truck also stormed through the arena and smashed the podium. A guiniess world record attempt was also broken on Saturday by Alastair Moffatt by parking his Fiat 500 in a spot 7.5cm bigger than his car! The event finished with a bang with some two wheeled action from the UKFMX Motocross stars. Black flips and tricks galore.

The Dunlop stand sported some of the new touring cars from Andrew Jordan’s new MG6 and the new Infinity car. So for those that didn’t go or hear the news, we are here to give you a roundup of all the BTCC news!

Andrew Jordan – Jordan is switching from family team Eurotech and the Honda Civic to team with MG outfit Triple Eight.

Jason Plato – Plato will be making an announcement in next three weeks and confirms he is on the grid but not with MG.

"I love the pressure of trying to piece together the commercial parts and all the deals. I don't cook, but it is a bit like putting together a cake."

Let’s hope Plato can have his cake and eat it!

Colin Turkington – He has expressed plans to race this season but nothing confirmed as of yet for a sponsor or a car. The loss of his WSR sponsor, Ebay Motors have affected his chances but he seemed positive about other sponsors and cars.

Andy Priaulx - To race in the BTCC coming from the World Touring Cars Championship. Incidentally his race number #111 comes from his three WTCC titles. Priaulx is no stranger to the BTCC as he raced in 2002 with Plato and Neal and also raced in the Formula 3 with Rob Austin.

Sam Tordoff – No longer driving the MG, Tordoff has now signed to WSR racing in the successful touring car, the BMW. He has expressed that he would love to have Colin Turkington on the team.

Simon Belcher – Sticking with Speedworks/Handy Toyota Avensis for 2015, but it will be a new chassis that's gone through a major weight loss programme.

Aiden Moffat – The 18 year old that started in the BTCC when he was just 16 will be changing from the Chevelot Cruze which changed to the Volkswagen CC at Silverstone last season, to the Mercedes A Class working in a close partnership with Ciceley Racing.

Matt Neal and Gordon Shedden – Yet to announce car but they will not be using the Civic Tourer which they stated was a one year programme. Matt Neal has been dropping hints on social media about the new Civic Type R. The drawback is, it doesn’t exist yet.

Rob Austin – Sticking with the Audi A4 for the 2015 season. Austin is looking forward to having three-time World Touring Car champion Andy Priaulx back in the series next year, when he returns with WSR.

"It's really good to have a triple world champion back in the BTCC," he says. "It adds credibility to the championship that I think it deserves anyway. It's good to have those guys to aim for, and i look forward to beating him!"
