Ali McGill congratulates Paul Dugid of HiQ Berwick upon Tweed

Two technicians of our north eastern HiQ franchise have been awarded industry recognition after becoming the first to pass the Level 3 ATA Diagnostic assessment regulated by the Institute of Motor Industry.

Paul Dugid of HiQ Berwick upon Tweed and John Parker of HiQ Blyth are now registered as diagnostic technicians through the Automotive Technician Accreditation (ATA) programme, becoming the first to do so within the entire HiQ network.

Widely regarded as the most technically challenging of the ATA assessments, Paul and John have been congratulated by the franchise owner, Ali McGill and members of the HiQ lead team for their achievement.

They said: “It feels great to have passed the assessment and to be accredited in this discipline.

“Training is an essential part of our jobs as technicians so we can continue to service our customers’ needs and meet their car care requirements.”

Becoming a diagnostic technician also serves as the entry level recognised by VOSA to become an MOT tester, which will open the door for further training opportunities.McGill tyres franchisee Ali McGill, said: “This is a fantastic achievement and one that Paul and John should be very proud of.

“As a team, it is important for us to reassure our customers that we have the right people and the right tools to do the job competently and professionally.

“We will continue to push Paul and John in their training but there’s no doubt they should be praised for what they have achieved so far.”

HiQ’s fast fit manager, Stuart Carr, said: “Paul and John have taken the lead in our training programme and have worked hard to pass this assessment.

“We are committed to training our technicians to the highest level, and we use the ATA assessment programme to verify the work carried out through the HiQ Academy.

ATA is a regulatory programme that commits technicians to an ethical code of conduct and is regarded as the most prestigious qualification in the fast fit industry.

Successful candidates have their names listed on the ATA website which allows consumers to search for their nearest garage with registered technicians, giving peace of mind that work will be carried out correctly.
