So Steven, you're sitting pretty in third place in the drivers' standings, with your team first in the HiQ Teams' Championship. It must be good to be back in the BTCC?

Yes, it's fantastic to be back in action, 1st in the Dunlop MSA Teams Championship and 3rd in the Drivers Standings after three rounds. If someone had said that to me before the season started I would have jumped at it. I hope to continue in the same vein. It makes me really proud to be fighting fro the championship and I'm loving every minute.

You've already won a HiQ champagne moment for your performances at Thruxton. Have your performances surpassed your expectations?

I wouldn't say surpassed because I'm always the first to criticise. I think I have more left in me; more areas to improve on and I have more to give. I've been out of a BTCC car for 18 months and it takes times to get back into the full swing. The BTCC doesn't suffer fools lightly and any mistakes are punished. Just keeping the cars on track through difficult conditions can be challenging enough! But the truth is I wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

What are your memories of Oulton Park? Are you looking forward to going back there?

It's a great track for me, filled with sweeping hills, hidden crests, and off-camber corners - in fact every corner is a challenge! In 2008 after a difficult qualifying session I got up to fourth and stayed there. It's a very rewarding circuit to battle round and it can punish you if you're not careful. Saying that I cannot wait to get back there, I've had itchy feet this month with the break, so yes for sure - I can't wait to go back.

What kind of a circuit is it for a driver? Enjoyable?

No doubt about it, it's a driver's circuit, and a good driver can really make the difference at Oulton Park. Crests, banked corners, off camber chicanes make this a very tough circuit, there's not an easy part to it and you really have to concentrate. The bumps can throw a car's balance way off, and in a split second so you need to really concentrate.
It's so challenging that as a driver it's one I really look forward to. If you can get into the right groove Oulton Park is one of the best circuits to drive in the world, but if you're off the pace or struggling with your car it can be one of the worst. Making changes to the set-up of a car at Oulton is difficult as it's demanding on a car in so many areas.

What are your hopes for the weekend? Have you set yourself a points target?

I try not to set points targets but podiums are always on my mind. If I can kick up a gear I think I have every chance of winning a race. If it's warm it can be a great circuit for the BMW. I just need to focus on results to keep myself in contention and the airwaves BMW team at the top of the championship.

Do you feel being a part of the Airwaves BMW team has contributed to your success?

Any racing driver will tell you without a solid team nothing can be achieved. A driver is only as good as his equipment, and every race weekend I've been given a cracking and competitive car. As a driver you can't ask for more.
Everyone in the team in hungry for success and that gives off a positive and winning atmosphere that shows. For me they are the best team in the paddock, and I'm proud we're all in this together.
