The HiQ fast fit network is claiming a huge advantage over its competitors after becoming the first tyre retailer to boast its 50th Automotive Technician Accredited fast fit member.

HiQ Tamworth technician Craig Cowell became the latest fitter to gain the accreditation ensuring that we hit the half century milestone in the process.

We made a promise that every one of our 700 technicians would be ATA fast fit registered by the end of 2012, as it represented the most effective way of driving personal standards across the network.

The ATA is a voluntary competency based assessment to ensure technicians carry out their work in the correct manner. All technicians are required to carry out a theory based module and then practical assessments specific to their field of expertise.

Successful candidates are required to sign and abide by a code of conduct and their details listed on the ATA website.

The website then allows the consumer to locate a garage employing registered technicians, giving them piece of mind that the work will be carried out correctly.

Our fast fit manager Stuart Carr said: ""We are delighted that Craig has achieved his ATA certification. It makes it even more special that his achievement marks the first milestone in our assessment programme."

"We must remember that we still have some way to go to get every one of our 700 technicians accredited by the end of 2012 but with our year-end target to have at least one ATA accredited technician per centre, I am confident we are well on track to achieve this.

"We are committed to training our technicians to the highest level, and we use the ATA assessment programme to verify the work carried out through the HiQ academy."
