Colmar-Berg, Luxembourg, February 23, 2016 – Tyre manufacturer Goodyear Dunlop is recalling 1,084 Dunlop SportMaxx GT summer passenger car tyres in size 255/40ZR19 100Y XL produced in weeks 37 and 38 of 2015, in order to retrieve 369 tyres which were manufactured with an incorrect tread compound.
The affected tyres can be identified by a DOT number on the sidewall of the tyre reading DN5W JC1R 3715 or DN5W JC1R 3815. No other of the company’s brands, products or sizes are affected.
The use of the incorrect compound reduces significantly the tyre’s wet grip performance which presents a road safety risk.
The manufacturer is contacting motorists, tyre and car dealers and vehicle manufacturers who may have any of these tyres in stock or on a vehicle, asking them to contact the company immediately to have these tyres exchanged at no cost.
All motorists who identify these tyres on their cars must avoid any driving in wet road conditions. If drivers can’t reach the tyre or car dealer in dry road conditions, the tyre manufacturer will provide an alternative solution.
To date, the company has not received any reports of incidents in connection with these tyres.
To arrange replacement or ask any questions regarding this safety recall, the company’s customer service center can be contacted at phone 01902 327135.
