What exactly is ATA?
Our aim at HiQ is to get all of our technicians ATA accredited by the end of 2015. Sounds good, but what does that mean to you? It means that at every centre, work will be carried out on your car by competent individuals who have reached a certain level of technical proficiency and have been examined to confirm this.
The Automotive Technician Accreditation is a voluntary programme operated by the Institute of Motor Industry (IMI). It may surprise you to hear that staff employed within a garage or workshop do not have to have any qualifications. We recognise this is not ideal which is why we invest in training our technicians, to prove to that we are committed to doing the job properly, and to give you peace of mind.
Every ATA accredited individual must pass a series of practical assessments and theory based tests. They must demonstrate their skills in a garage environment and keep afoot of technological developments. Not only this, our technicians must abide by a code of conduct to act in a professional manner and maintain a commitment to develop skills and educational standards.
Basically, we do this so you know what to expect, and nothing less. We promise to offer you a network of fully trained technicians that can give expert advice and recommendation without ever completing any unnecessary work. What’s more, we are only one of a handful of fast fit networks to enforce this type of self- regulation - another reason why we are ‘a fast fit you can be sure of.’
Since launching the training programme in 2011, over 150 technicians have already been accredited.
