Goodyear's Eagle 360 concept tyre has been given a 2016 Good Design award in the category 'Transportation' by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and the European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies. The spherical concept tyre has been recognised for its unique design and shape.

This tyre is a concept that Goodyear have developed through their innovative thought process. It is Goodyear's vision of a tyre for the long term future, and has many intriguing technical features. Watch this video to learn about how the Eagle 360 tyre would work:

The Eagle 360 was unveiled by Goodyear at the 2016 Geneva International Motor Show. The unique shape of it is key for ultimate maneuverability and safety; and also to match the demands of autonomous mobility in the future. Active technology within the tyre allows it to move as needed in order to reduce sliding from potential hazards, such as black ice or sudden obstacles.

On receiving the award, Oliver Rousseau, Vice President Consumer PBU EMEA at Goodyear has said "We welcome this great recognition for the tremendous work done by our designers and engineers who developed the Goodyear Eagle 360. It shows that Goodyear truly is at the forefront of industry innovation and leading the way for new technologies".

Goodyear have also been recognised by The Time Magazine, as this concept tyre has been named one of the magazines 'Best Inventions of the year 2016'.

Every year the magazine’s technology editors make a list of the year’s “best inventions that are making the world better, smarter and—in some cases—a little more fun.” 2016's list included 25 inventions, which in addition to Goodyear’s Eagle-360 concept, includes a virtual reality headset, the Amazon Echo speaker and shoes that lace themselves.
